those buddhists are always thinking about themselves

this one started a while back on Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade. I got into a discussion with one of the "end of world" sign carrying Christians about religion and we both started quoting passages and he let me know that all religions (except christianity) were selfish in their core beliefs. I asked, "even buddhists?" who forsake all earthly belongings and material possessions? and to this he replied, "especially buddhists. Hence the shirts. I chose the laughing buddha for my own "selfish" reasons and wanted it to look more hand drawn because, well, i had forsaken my computer that day. Then next, I scanned it in and this shirt was born. Esoteric, yes, meaningful definitely. I hope you get it. i do, and wear it proudly.

on a huge side note

Modernest is now up!!! Some of you may know about it. Many may not. This is something that the enterprising and wonderful woman in my life has envisioned for years. As all things in our life it is a partnership. There were literally blood sweat and tears to get to this point, but at long last, our designs are here and on ecofriendly cotton bags, grown and made in the US. Bags are the start. Bags that will last a very long time. Not just promotional items that will tear or wear out not long after you get them, but they will be a fashionable accessory with a unique design. We'll launch more of 'em. We'll launch more products too! But this is the beginning and we hope you love them. So help us get the word out and we hope that you will like one and enjoy it while shopping or go with you where ever your day takes you!

Thanks

Old to me, new to you, but still good old graphite!

Another oldie from the vault. If you're related to me or know me well, you may have received one of these over the years. Well, it's still damn good. Especially if you're into standardized testing. Check it, check it, check it out. But fill in the entire bubble please or your score may not be accurately counted. Womens too! Cause they dig the pencil a bit more than men. They do what can i say they learned to color within the lines a helluva lot better than most men ever did.

Lost Junkie?

We are. With that being said. I'm going to put it out there if these should be made into shirts that are available to all of you. I have them and Cuse and Lindelof don't seem to mind seeing their stuff in as many places as they can. Either way, there is only one station so far that I haven't recreated and that's straight Psychology. I don't know what the hell it is and the images that I can find of it stink so I'm not going to attempt it, if it's wrong. Take a look and hopefully someone will want one. I'm considering patches as quite a few people have made buttons, but we'll see.

kudos to you sir, Ibraheem Youssef

It was always my dream to make movie posters and MATCHING packaging for the dvds so that even a standard edition dvd could look like it was Criterion.

I viewed some Tarantino posters by Ibraheem Youssef over at I Watch Stuff and they're just gorgeous. The Jackie Brown, Res Dogs, and Kill Bills are freaking awesome. I mean like Saul Bass awesome. Check Mr Youssef's stuff. He knows what he's doing and he loves it. Add in good simple (read-complex) design and that means I love it.

There are alot of mediums that are dumbed down and on the cusp of dying, like good meaningful movies, their posters, print journalism (thanks Arianna), proper etiquette, and original tv shows on broadcast television. But it makes me hopeful and also makes me want to work harder to do my own fan art that even if a niche market is into it, well, then cool, i'm a niche kinda guy.

Cause you know, he can bite pretty hard

This is a pretty simple one, but not without it's meaning. Quite a few people may not like this but thats okay. I wouldn't be an open critic to organized religion without saying things like this. I just always liked that the image of the dog always looked pretty menacing and heck, God did turn Sarah into a pillar of salt just for turning around! So take it as Gods warning, or take it as satire

Enjoy!

Yes, yes I am

This was inspired years back at a concert at the Troubadour here in Hollywood. We were adjacent to the stage standing next to a big orange fan and the keyboardist for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah was there and I was leaning on said fan and told him my opinion of the band. He took a moment, nodded and went back to tuning, when i said it again, he looked up and saw my reference. He got a chuckle and so did we. Hence the birth of a shirt. See design and image!

OH NOOOOOOO!

A lot of you may not remember Jim Jones, but he was at the heart of a major cult disaster in French Guyana 1978. It was tragic, yes but long gave the koolaid man a very bad name.

baseball season is almost here! time to get out your paperbag.

Boston has been out of this niche for a while now so we have to turn to the midwest's best baseball pun. The Cubs go about their winning ways with this diddy that only a Cubs fan would appreciate. You can learn all about Billy Sianis and the curse here

what to wear to your next tea party...

This is a shirt that was born of the times. Between politics, Wall Street, or whatever it is you kids watch on your 5,000,000 cable channels, we just wanted to say enough!

You can get this in a shirt or a bumper sticker that you can stick fancy like on your gas guzzler or fuel sipper!
